View the solid waste area, learn what happens to trash once it is picked up, composting area, water conservation, mulching, recycling sorting facility, all kinds of machinery, will receive activity books as well as a video for your group (if available). 27th Ave./Lower Buckeye Rd. City of Phoenix Recycling
Educational opportunities for City of Phoenix residents regarding recycling are provided by Recycling Contracts and Education staff. If you would like to reserve a free speaker on recycling or other solid waste issues for your own group or if you would like to schedule a tour of the North Gateway Transfer Station or the 27th Ave. Solid Waste Management Facility and their recycling Material Recovery Facilities, call 602-534-7098. Meetings/tours last approximately one hour. For information on a presentation or appearance, call 602-534-7098. When recyclables are picked up from your house they go to several processing facilities. There they are sorted by material through the use of high technology processing equipment. They are prepared for markets and shipped to various paper mills and plastic, glass or aluminum plants around the region. The Famed Airplane Graveyard / Bone Yard at Davis Monthan Airforce base in Tucson is not just a fence around piles of out-dated scrap metal. Millions of dollars of surplus parts are salvaged to keep other active aircraft flying. You can think of this place as a huge warehouse for all types of spare parts which saves taxpayers millions of dollars every year. The Pima Air & Space Museum offers tours of Davis-Monthan's AMARC (Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center) Facility. Advance reservations are strongly recommended to guarantee seating. To make a tour reservation, please call the reservation desk at (520) 618-4806. The tour bus boards at the Museum entrance. Due to increased security concerns, one small carry-on item is allowed per passenger. Carry-on items may include a small camera, purse, or fanny/belt sack. Photo identification is required for everyone 16 years and over.

Founded by PING inventor Karsten Solheim more than 40 years ago, the family-owned company prides itself on closely controlling the entire golf club manufacturing process. PING offers free factory tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 am, by reservation only. These tours fill up very quickly, so please be sure to call well in advance.
