Arizona Ed

NAME: Ed

BIRTHDAY: June 1

EDUCATION: self-educated naturalist (“A naturalist is a person who studies the natural world, quite often as a generalist, as I tend to be. You might say I'm a jack-of-all-trades in an age of specialization.”)

JOB DESCRIPTION: mild-mannered tour guide

PERSONALITY: soft-spoken, witty, daring

FAVORITE SUBJECTS: history, archaeology, geography, science

HOBBIES & PASTIMES: reading, traveling and exploring

LEAST FAVORITE THING: spiders (“I hate spiders, I hate ‘em! Why’d it have to be spiders?”)

SIGNATURE WEAPON: walking stick (Watch how he wields his walking stick as a multi-purpose tool to attack, disarm, swing across gaps, move rocks, and much more!)

HEADGEAR: soft knit beanie (A style that was popular with early 20th- century schoolboys and also conjures up images of outdoorsmen a la Paul Bunyan, while the pom-pom on top adds a bit of geekiness. “If a man walks down the street in that hat, people will know he’s not afraid of anything!”)

FAVORITE SONG: The Happy Wanderer (see below)

The Happy Wanderer

Friedrich W. Möller

I love to go a-wandering
Along the mountain track
And as I go, I love to sing,
My knapsack on my back.

Val-de-ri, val-de-ra,
Val-de-ri, val-de-ra, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
Val-de-ri, val-de-ra
My knapsack on my back.

I love to wander by the stream
That dances in the sun,
So joyously it calls to me,
Come join my happy song.
Val-de-ri, val-de-ra . . .

I wave my hat to all I see,
And they wave back to me
And blackbirds call so loud and sweet
From ev'ry green wood tree.
Val-de-ri, val-de-ra . . .

High overhead the skylarks wing,
They never rest at home,
But just like me they love to sing
As o'er the world we roam
Val-de-ri, val-de-ra . . .

Oh, may I go a-wandering
Until the day I die,
Oh, may I always laugh and sing
Beneath God's clear blue sky.
Val-de-ri, val-de-ra . . .
